Campaign Weekly Update - 50 Days till Election
Here's the latest news and updates from the Stabenow for U.S. Senate campaign this past week.
Rally at the University of Michigan: On Sunday, Senator Stabenow led the "Women On The Road To Victory" rally on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor. She was joined by special guests U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer (CA), Patty Murray (WA), Barbara Mikulski (MD), Mary Landrieu (LA) and Senator Blanche Lincoln (AR), as well as local elected officials.
Around Michigan: Senator Stabenow attended the "Hatters At The Hop" Red Hat Society convention and the Old Town Blues Festival in Lansing, as well as the NAACP Affirmative Action rally. She also stopped by the Michigan Coordinated Campaign concert with CC Winans and Donnie McClurkin in Detroit. Also, she attended the UAW Local 36 Retiree Dinner in Livonia, as well as the Oakland County Democratic Party Phil Hart Dinner in Troy. Thanks to everyone who attended these great events.
RV Update: The "Working Families Express" spent most of the week in Macomb County. We were a part of The American Federation of Government Employees Local 1658's Annual PAC picnic on Tuesday. We also joined the Macomb County Democrats for their Ice Cream Socials in Saint Clair Shores, New Baltimore, Mount Clemens, and Clinton Township. Over the weekend, the Mobile Office headed to Big Rapids where we joined Mecosta, Osceola, and Montcalm counties in their Tri-County Democratic Picnic. Last week, The "Working Families Express" also hit the streets to help the Michigan Coordinated Campaign's canvassing efforts in both Warren and Saint Clair Shores. Keep checking your e-mail so you can join us when the mobile office is in your area!
Host A House Party: Please consider helping the Stabenow Campaign by hosting a house party with your friends, family and neighbors before the end of the month. We're asking supporters to host a Team Stabenow House Party during our "Countdown to Victory Week", anytime from September 21st-30th! This is a great opportunity to have fun and help the campaign right before the end of the quarter. If you'd like to sign up, email Heather Ricketts or call 517-336-8500.
Volunteer: The Coordinated Campaign is always looking for volunteers to do phone banking and go door-to-door to help elect great Democrats in 2006. There are canvasses and phone banks going on daily across Michigan. To volunteer, stop by the office nearest you!
New Poll: A new poll came out Thursday with great news for the Senator! She continues to lead Republican challenger Mike Bouchard, 54-34. The poll was conducted by EPIC-MRA for The Detroit News and TV stations WXYZ in Southfield, WOOD in Grand Rapids, WILX in Lansing and WJRT in Flint. To find out more, read the AP news article.
