Here's the latest news and updates from the Stabenow for U.S. Senate campaign this past week.
Turn On The Light!: We're 43 days from the election on November 7th. In the last month, it seems the entire Bush administration, from President Bush, Karl Rove to Ken Mehlman, have dropped by to raise more money for our opponent. Tomorrow Vice President Dick Cheney takes his turn. National Republican groups like the Club for Growth are vowing to spend money here as well. To combat their partisan attack machine, we're going to need serious funding to respond on television. Saturday is also an important filing deadline for the campaign, and we need to raise $75,000 online. So, please donate today.
Register to Vote: The deadline to register to vote for this election is October 10th. Are you registered? Check with the Secretary of State online, you can do a lookup by name or drivers license number. This website will also tell you your polling place location. Please take a minute today to make sure there are no problems with your registration! If you're not listed on their site, stop by a Secretary of State branch office or your local city or township clerk's office to register or re-register. Also you can download a mail-in registration form here. Read more about voting in Michigan.
Around Michigan: Last week Senator Stabenow attended a UAW rally in Flint, and the Southern Genesee Democratic Club's Candidates Night in Grand Blanc. She kicked off the Out & About Autism Society Walk & Run in Shelby Township, joined volunteers for door-to-door canvassing in Macomb and stopped by the Democratic Coordinated Campaign's new office openings in Detroit. She then spoke to the Community Fellowship Seventh Day Adventist church service in Southfield, and the UAW Local 600's Retirees in Dearborn, and keynoted the Macomb County Democratic Committee's 4th Annual Women’s Luncheon in Macomb. Thanks to everyone who participated in these events.
RV Update: The Working Families Express kicked off last week with the Macomb County Democrats in Clinton Township for an ice cream social, followed by a door-to-door canvass in Madison Heights. The Mobile Office then headed to Shiawassee, Genesee, and Saginaw Counties where we teamed up with local Democrats for volunteer training, W.O.W. (Women on Wednesdays), and a Meet the Candidates event. Over the weekend, we joined Senator Stabenow in Flint for a rally, cheered on the University of Michigan at their game against Wisconsin, attended the Lapeer County Democrats Annual Congressional Awards Dinner, and met with UAW Local 600 Retirees at a political rally! Keep checking your e-mail so you can join us when the mobile office is in your area!
Madeleine Albright: We have an exciting fundraising event coming up on Wednesday, October 4th with former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Host and General Tickets are available. For more information, email Kristen Caswell or call 517-336-8500 today.
Host A House Party: Please consider helping the Stabenow Campaign by hosting a house party with your friends, family and neighbors before the end of the month. We're asking supporters to host a Team Stabenow House Party during our "Countdown to Victory Week", anytime from now until the 30th! This is a great opportunity to have fun and help the campaign right before the end of the quarter. If you'd like to sign up, email Heather Ricketts or call 517-336-8500.
