Here's the latest news and updates from the Stabenow for U.S. Senate campaign.

Debates: Our first debate was aired last night on PBS. Senator Stabenow really came through in this debate. It was clear from the beginning that creating and keeping good-paying Michigan jobs is her number one priority. A priority seemingly not shared by Mr. Bouchard. She drove home positive points about her record of getting tough on countries that cheat our trade laws, stopping Canadian Trash, lowering the cost of health care and many other important issues. She also pulled no punches in highlighting where the two of them differ in their priorities, particularly on the economy.

The second hour-long Senate debate will be held on Wednesday, October 18, at the Detroit Economic Club. It will be broadcast on Detroit Public Television on Sunday, October 29th, at 12:30pm.

Endorsements: Last week we welcomed the news of Senator Stabenow's endorsement by the Bay City Times and the Observer & Eccentric Newspapers. Yesterday we were endorsed by the Lansing State Journal. Today the Detroit Regional Chamber is announcing their endorsement as well. More to follow!

TV adLaunching A New Television Ad: On Friday we unveiled our seventh television ad, entitled "Record." In the ad Senator Stabenow defends her record of putting Michigan first against the ongoing, misleading attacks from Mike Bouchard. The ad also points out that Mike Bouchard has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars as a director for an insurance company that has outsourced good paying jobs to countries like India and China, a policy that couldn't be more wrong for Michigan.

Debbie Stabenow and Barack ObamaObama Rally: Senator Stabenow welcomed Senator Barack Obama to Michigan last week, at a large and energetic rally in Detroit. Obama fired up the audience, and really showed what Democratic leadership will mean to Michigan and the United States.

Around Michigan: Last week Senator Stabenow rallied in Detroit with Senator Barack Obama, Governor Granholm, and many other Democrats. Senator Stabenow also visited with seniors in Warren, and attended a UAW Retirees lunch in Macomb. And, of course, she appeared on TV Sunday night in the first debate against Mike Bouchard.

RV Update: The Working Families Express began last week in the Upper Peninsula, where we joined Congressman Stupak and other Democrats for an event in Marquette. The Mobile Office then traveled to Canton and Livonia for political rallies with UAW retirees. We also connected with Livonia's Coordinated Campaign for a door-to-door canvass with many dedicated volunteers. The Mobile Office met up with Senator Stabenow at her rally with Senator Obama in Detroit. Over the weekend, we headed to Big Rapids, where we were a part of Ferris State University's Homecoming Parade, which was followed by a meet and greet with State Senate candidate Tiyi Schippers. The Mobile Office also joined Ferndale's Coordinated Campaign along with volunteers for a viewing party of the first Senate debate.
