Fighting to Revamp the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan

Stabenow introduces bill to extend deadline

Senator Debbie Stabenow is leading the fight to revamp a Medicare prescription drug plan that puts drug company profits ahead of the needs of our seniors and our families.

Responding to serious concerns about complicated and sometimes contradictory information provided to seniors, and a looming financial penalty for those who have not signed up for the program, Senator Stabenow introduced a bill to extend the enrollment deadline from May 15th until the end of the year.

"People need more time to sort this out," said Stabenow. "We have 70 different (drug) plans available in Michigan. Our seniors need to decide which one, if any, works for them."
